Meditation: Live a Better Life by Meditating

People all around the world are increasingly practicing meditation for improving the health of their body and mind. There are many other forms of meditation such as focusing on a single object, focusing on the present moment or focusing on the entry and exit of air to and from the lungs. One of the most common forms of meditation is doing breathing exercises, which involves controlling the breath popularly.

 

Once considered an ancient practice, meditation has now been accepted as a treatment for stress and anxiety even by the modern medical science. When people meditate they can bring down their high blood pressure, control their anxiety and get rid of stress. In meditation you learn how to forget about the past and not think about the future, thus helping you to be free from past traumas and future anxieties when you meditate. Meditation will help you lead a better life by focusing on the present moment.

Meditation helps improve concentration, regulates blood circulation and enhances overall personal health. It is for these reasons that many athletes, politicians and celebrity stars have also taken up to meditating. Whatever field you may belong to, meditation will help to increase your overall performance.

Meditation is a proven treatment for depression and anxiety. This is caused when the secretion of serotonin is decreased in the body. Meditation will induce the secretion of this hormone in the human body. This is the happy drug and it will eliminate mental illness such as hopelessness and depression. Meditation increases the immune power of the human body and regulated the flow of blood that ill help in fast recovery from infections and other common allergies. Furthermore meditation has also been found to reduce respiratory rate and heart rate, increase tolerance level, and increase the secretion of happy hormones in the body. For those who have had attacks meditation brings in considerable relief from the sufferings. Meditating people also experiences less physical pain due to their illness.

Meditation can be done in any atmosphere; the only stipulation is that you need to be comfortable. Some people even meditate listening to loud or mild music. Meditation can be done anytime and at any place. The simplest form is the breathing exercise where you control the time for which the air rests in your lungs. While meditating, don't think about your past or future concerns; you need to just focus your mind on the inhalation and exhalation of air. Many people recite slokas and mantras to focus their mind on their favorite God and forget about the world. Some people may dance rhythmically concentrating on the rhythm which is also a form of meditation.

You may practice any form of meditation you desire and you can meditate for any duration but keep in mind that ten minutes is the ideal minimum time. When you meditate for a longer duration you will be benefited. You can lead a better life with good health when you meditate regularly. You will enjoy the mental peace and calm you achieve through meditation.
